Our journey began in fire

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness - beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been into anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and opened those cracks in me so easily ...

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private wounds ... and desires.

The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart ...

I found out about this book on Penguin's Twitter. It's said that this book is FIFTY TIMES BETTER THAN FIFTY SHADES OF GREY! I wanted to read it immediately. I tweeted Sylvia immediately and requested to review it. Then I contacted the UK publicist for Penguin and she agreed to send me a copy! Thank you!

I waited for almost two weeks for it to arrive and it did. It was a lovely Saturday morning, a day before my birthday and my mum gave me the parcel as soon as I got up! What a great start to a lovely morning, I thought! I can't wait to start on it and I started on it immediately, skipping breakfast and lunch and read more than 120 pages in one seating! I almost couldn't believe myself! It was absolutely impossible to put it down!

This book is AH-MAY-ZING! Well done, Sylvia! I was very captivated with this story and I hate to admit this but it's better than Fifty Shades (Sorry, Erika!) It's really intense and this book was very, very beautifully written. The title Bared To You was really apt for the book. Eva and Gideon was willing to give themselves to each other physical and emotionally. Neither of them were virgins or submissives before their paths entwined. Their feelings for each other was strong, powerful and everything about them pulled each other together. Their sex life was amazing, leaving me with 'Wow's and 'Whoa's. There's no violent sex in this book. No handcuffs, no anal beads or butt plug. Therefore, this book is much more realistic. Just sex and they're mind blowing!

The best part about this book? Though both of them have messed up pasts, they shared their pasts with each other and guide each other out of darkness. They worked things out and it's all very romantic and I can't help but grin widely. I understood how both of them felt. Eva's absolutely awesome! I love, love, love her! I imagined her as Scarlett Johansson, sexy, strong and fabulously feminine! Sometimes, I felt like giving her a knock on her head when she kept running away from Gideon once the going got tough. Despite that, she's an amazing character. She dared to admit her weaknesses and confessed her own ugly past. I'm sure no one would like to dig out anything about their past and tell them out but Eva did that! I really admire her for that. She's not pathetic and has her own opinions, absolutely strong. Though women are usually written as weak characters, in this book, it's absolutely not that way. That's one thing I love about it! I could feel that Eva is firm and has characters of a heroine!

Gideon's powerful, sexy and rich. Sounds like a dream guy, huh? Dark and Dangerous. Girls, mostly love guys that are surrounded by little clouds of mystery. That makes them more attractive, I guess? Gideon's absolutely in love with Eva and was willing to do anything to make her stay. That's very nice of him. The sparks between them was enough for me to stay on my chair all day and daydream! Imagined him as Colin Farrell, hot and well-built (I'm swooning!). The thought of him and ScarJo in bed together left me with wide grin and I am hoping that this book will be made into a movie! Can't get enough of those blue eyes!

I got quite emotional reading this book. It gripped my heart and made my heart race like a sports car (bad metaphor!). Both Eva and Gideon have unpleasant pasts and being together with trust has undoubtedly helped them in understanding each other and building their relationship into a stronger one. Hey, I'm sure there are obstacles in every relationship! Their sexual relationship was absolutely steamy and sexy! There's a lot of mind blowing sex in this book that will haunt you in your dreams! The power of this book! See what you could do to me, Sylvia? I'm sure all readers will feel hot even under an air-conditioner. I don't think I'm exaggerating that!

I also loved the other supporting characters in this book! Cary, Eva's bisexual roommate-slash-best friend was very lovable. He's such a caring best friend and he's like a brother to Eva. Totally protective. Just by looking at Eva, he could tell that something was not right somewhere and he would comfort her and help her through. Mark, Eva's gay boss and his partner, Steven were absolutely fun and awesome!

I was totally absorbed into the world of Gideon and Eva. This greatly emotional novel by the lovely Sylvia will leave you wanting for more and sleep less (you won't even mind that). I think that this book is not something you want to miss. Intelligently written, deeply emotional, sexy! It has an amazing plot, such a great love story (of course!). Absolutely worth every cent!

I'm totally looking forward to continuing the journey with Gideon and Eva! The sequel, Reflected In You is said to be released in October 2012! You know what? I can't wait! Lovely Sylvia, please don't make me wait? It kills me to wait for another two months! Next fall, I'd wait!

  1. What a great review! I won a copy of this book in a competition and have dipped in and out of it as I've been very busy with Gunshot Glitter, but right away I could see the writing in this a huge cut above E L James's 50 Shades. I loved the sumptuous feel of the cover too. One day I will sit down and give this a proper read cover to cover like you xx
