Slapper? Slut? Adulteress?

Sophie Penhalligan's life and moral universe is turned upside down when rock star Dan proposes to her in full knowledge that she is already engaged. She has always loved Dan, in a remote-crush kind of way. She thinks she loves her fiancé, Tim. What is she going to do?

It's all happening because her past has come to tempt her. Nine years ago, she met her teenage idol and rock star extraordinaire, Dan Hunter, up close and personal. Well, almost!

Now Dan has crash-landed back into her life just as Sophie is happily embroiled in a relationship with Tim, her boyfriend of two years. Until recently, she was confident Tim would eventually propose. But while his persistent inaction is beginning to cast a cloud over their relationship, Dan's sudden reappearance poses a whole new dilemma.

Having accompanied Dan's band to Paris, Sophie suddenly finds herself engaged to Dan while her erstwhile fiancé Tim is... well, doing whatever it is Tim does back in London. Torn between the dream-come-true and the sensible-thing-to-do, Sophie concludes her inadvertent journey of self-discovery with an ending that surprises herself, and everyone around her.

If you have dreamed of being proposed to by your idol, you must read this book! It might be just a dream for us but for Sophie, it's definitely not a dream.

Sophie Penhalligan has a steady job, a best friend and a boyfriend. It's all perfect until...Dan Hunter, her idol from her favourite band, Tuscq when she's 19 made an appearance after 10 long years, her life turned 180 degrees. When Dan proposed to her, it's like a dream come true! The problem is, she's engaged to another man, Tim and he's definitely not her type.

I'm really grateful that Nicky sent me a copy of this book. When I started, I was sucked into the story! Transported into the world of Sophie Penhalligan. I loved the settings, UK, US and Paris! PARIS! Not only that! I heart the cover! Eiffel Tower and a deep shade of purple! Beautiful! Gold and purple! What's not to love? As for the story, it flowed very well, and the events are well written and wonderfully connected. I liked the usage of flashbacks as they played an important role in helping me to understand more about Sophie and her love for rock music. This book is really suitable for a teen like me. I daydream a lot. About my idols!

Sophie's such a great character and I liked her immediately! A new favourite character! She's funny and sincere. I admired her honesty when she tells Dan that she's engaged to Tim. Then, she accompanied Dan's band for a tour and Sophie falls for Dan. After ten long years. All out of sudden, Dan proposes her! Now, two proposals. Tim, the boyfriend that's not her type and Dan, her dream man. When real world and dream overlap, she's stuck and it sort of became a nightmare. Who's the one for her? Heartthrob Dan or quite (very!) boring Tim? Team Dan or Team Tim?

In such situation, Sophie could easily be a heartless bitch that dumps her fiancé to be with Dan. She didn't and is confused with her own feelings. Not a slut or a slapper but a confused young lady. Love can do two things : make you extremely happy or confuse you. Thank god she's got Rachel, the BFF! Rach's a great friend. She's like Blair from Gossip Girl helping Serena out when she's torn between Nate and Dan (oh, another Dan!). Okay, I've gone a little too far. "I'm always at the other end of my mobile phone." proves that Rachel's always there for Sophie. Spending quality time with a best friend is a great idea when life gets ugly.

All in all, Sophie's Turn is a fab debut novel. Light and very entertaining read. Perfect book for a lazy Sunday. There's nothing dull about this book. I found this story believable and real. I can feel for every character. As for the ending, it shocked me. The great turn that Sophie took was totally unexpected, I didn't see it coming. Great ending, anyway. I didn't want it to end but good things always come to an end, right? As for now, I'm looking forward to the sequel, Sophie's Run! 7 February 2013. Mark this date on your calendar! I'm counting down the days! 50 days to go!

Lastly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NICKY! You rock! xx
