Jess has decided it's time to get out of her comfort zone and live a little. So when her best friend Bryony, a journalist on a gossip magazine, is sent to cover the Cannes Film Festival, Jess decides to seize the day and go along for the ride. Two weeks of sun, glamour and exclusive entry into celeb-filled parties is just the kind of adventure Jess needs.
Reality soon bites though when Jess and Bryony find they're staying in a dingy hotel far away from all the action and Bryony's expenses budget barely covers a glass of local wine. Undeterred, the two women are determined to live like the elite and enjoy one fancy night out to begin their holiday. So what if they have to tell a few white lies along the way? It's just this once. No harm done . . . right?
I am sorry to say this over and over and over and over again but I think it's already a well established fact that I am a huge fan of Lisa, I've been keeping up with every one of her new releases and she never disappoints. I read Catch Me if You Cannes when it was first released in four parts and I found that the characterization and development of plot were very well done. Basically, this story follows the lives of Jess and Bryony. Bryony is a journalist while Jess owns a cafe back home in England. The duo are on a vacation in the City of Lights, France and while B has to go to Cannes for some juicy celeb gossip, Jess decides to join her best friend for a little getaway since her life has been rubbish lately. French hotties, fabulous crepes and a very beautiful city - good combo, no? There is nothing to lose, certainly. So, when in Cannes, they found new friends, new men and they might have went a little too far by "embellishing" their lives. And those lies can't be kept forever..........(read to find out!)
If you love books that would bring you on a holiday, this is it. I had the most amazing time reading about B and J’s adventures in Cannes and I was instantly transported to a summery, positive, happy holiday. Lisa did a fabulous job in describing Cannes and Monaco, plus the details of places. She must have done a hell lot of research before writing this book. Leo, the male lead was a written version of Leonardo DiCaprio and my point is, he loves crepes. HE LOVES CREPES, hashtag how to melt a girl's heart starter pack. Jess and Leo might have a few awkward exchanges but trust me, the story gets better as it progresses. As for the supporting characters, they were fabulous and I loved how everyone just get along together so perfectly.
The plot of this story was unpredictable and I had to keep reading to find out. It had me laughing out loud and it was almost impossible to stop once I started reading it. The characters were flawlessly developed by Lisa and the main characters were wonderfully amazing. Though they might not be the greatest characters of all time, they are worth knowing. I have truly enjoyed rereading Catch Me if You Cannes and it goes without saying that I felt the same way as I felt the last time. I must admit that the current cover is really gorgeous that I would frame it if I could. I am so upset that this book has to end, it has been a cute, lovely, summery experience as the characters provided great company and lifted my uni stress off.
For me, Catch Me if You Cannes is a summer essential, just like your sunblock. In fact, forget the SPF (this book would provide you enough shade by the beach!). All in all, Catch Me if You Cannes is totally Netflix series material.
