Tess Brookes has always been a Girl with a Plan. But when her constructed Plan goes belly up, she's forced to reconsider.
After accidentally answering her flatmate Vanessa's phone, she decides that being Tess isn't going so well, why shouldn't she try out being Vanessa? With nothing left to lose, she accepts Vanessa's photography assignment to Hawaii - she used to be an amateur snapper, how hard could it be? Right?
But Tess is soon in big trouble - she isn't a photographer, she isn't Vanessa, and the gorgeous journalist on the shoot with her, who is making it very clear he'd like to get into her pants, is an egoistic monster.
Far from home and in someone else's shoes, Tess must decide whether to fight on through, or 'fess up and run...
The blurb is so interesting, isn't it? I became a huge fan of Lindsey since I Heart Paris and I have all her books. It's been almost a year since her last book, I Heart London and when I found out that she's writing a new book, a new series, I was beyond ecstatic! I couldn't wait for July and thank God for the review copy! Love the people at Harper! I waited for about two weeks for the book and it arrived safely (thank you, postman!). I was insanely happy and started on it immediately. This book was totally unputdownable and it screamed "Read me! Read me!". Finished it in about 10 days as I couldn't bear to finish it soon. I wanted to enjoy every word of the book. This time, instead of beautiful, romantic cities, AAG's set in Hawaii and for a beach lover like me, I absolutely loved the setting! Romantic sunsets and all those came to my mind. I imagined myself wearing a pineapple print swimsuit and sipping pink watermelon juice from a pinapple while walking along the beach. Ahh, nice feeling!
AAG is about a girl, Tess, that ends up in Hawaii after losing her job. Besides, things became complicated between Tess and her crush and in such a situation, that's only one thing to do, run. As if it's all fated, when she answers her flatmate Vanessa's phone, she accepts a photography assignment to Hawaii. Considering all options, she decides to give it a go! Pretending to be a meanie like Vanessa wasn't easy at first but eventually everything falls naturally into place.
I loved Tess from the first chapter! She's like my twin sister and she's now in my Favourite Female Characters list. Tess was such a great heroine and she's clever, I liked her immediately. She could be sarcastic and come up with unpredictable lines. There were times I laughed like a mad woman while reading this book. The story was so amazingly developed and I couldn't ask for anything better. AAG was written in such a way that it's funny and romantic at the same time, leaving me with a thousand and one emotions. Other than Tess, I loved her best friend, Amy. I have friends that are just like her. We could fight and argue over the tiniest thing and the next minute, we're best friends again. I could feel all that easily as though I live in the book. There were moments I saw myself as Tess, I couldn't imagine anyone else. And the GBF, Kekipi! Despite the funny name that has reminded me of Keroro, he's sweet and totally a friend I would love to have. Apart from Kekepi, there's also Paige! I adored this character and I imagined Chiara Ferragni as her. Stylish and fashionable. And last but not least, the hero, Nick! Oh gosh, I couldn't find the perfect word to describe him. To describe him in one word, I'd say ANDY BROWN. Well, I'm currently addicted to the band Lawson... I had a vision of Andy being together with Tess in Hawaii, watching sunsets together. The perfect picture!
About A Girl is a book that you shouldn't miss this summer! A MUST-READ for chicklitters (gosh, I missed that word) and fans of Lindsey Kelk! If you loved Angela Clark, then trust me, you will love Tess too! Pack a copy in your bag before you leave for anywhere! To purchase online, click here.
Still couldn't believe I've read About A Girl! Can't wait for the sequel (the wait is killing me)! As for now, I'm still searching for a pineapple print swimsuit! Ciao!
